How Safe Do You Feel In Your Home?

Having your home broken into is a horrible experience. It can really affect you going forward and the lifestyle you lead. In fact research shows that 60% of adult victims have never felt safe in their own home again after a break in. 17% of victims to a house burglary have been burgled 3 or more times. Worryingly 65% of those were burgled in the same property.

This is commonly the case that houses will be re-visited by burglars. This is because the burglars will know what they have taken. They know how long it will take you to replace it. They know how to get into your home and therefore can return, quickly enter your home and steal your newly replaced possessions.

It is essential that your home is secured to the highest possible standards. This will then deter the potential thieves. If your home has been broken into and you are in the process of replacing your stolen possessions, take the time to upgrade or update your home security.

Home security improvements could include CCTV cameras, new stronger locks on doors and windows, security lighting outside your home or an intruder alarm for example. When a thief considers breaking into your home they will be looking for home security measures like this. If they see a strong level of home security they will go to another home. A home that offers easier pickings.

Only 14% of adults in the UK have CCTV installed in their homes. However burglars have stated that CCTV cameras are the biggest deterrent when it comes to choosing their next victim of house theft.
