Is Your Home Holiday Ready?

The spring months are finally upon us, which means long bank holiday weekends and summer breaks will soon be upon us. However, we want to know if your home is holiday ready. We all work hard throughout the year to be able to enjoy holidays and long weekend breaks. For weeks and months, we have been excited for the upcoming getaway and we have planned out what we need and what we are taking.  But have you thought about if your home is holiday ready? Is it safe and secure?

In this blog post we share a checklist to help ensure that your home is holiday ready. Whether you are going way for a ling bank holiday weekend, a few weeks or going on an around the world cruise, your home needs to be holiday ready. This will ensure that while you are away relaxing, sipping cocktails and taking in the culture, your home will be safe and not a target for potential thieves.

  • Intruder Alarm

If you have an intruder alarm, have you checked it is in good working order? When was the last time you tested it, or had it serviced and maintained? If you haven’t got an intruder alarm and are nervous about the security of your home while you are away, why not have an intruder alarm installed. Having an intruder alarm installed will automatically and greatly reduce the chances of your home being targeted.

  • Set Timers

While it is probably the most obvious security measure, along with locking your windows and doors, it is often forgotten. With smart devices it is easier than ever to set timers on your internal and external lights. Not only will lights make the home lived in, but they will also deter criminals too. Criminals want to break-in under the cover of darkness. The light outside your home will put them off gaining entry to your home.

  • CCTV Surveillance

If you are someone that finds it hard to relax on holiday as you are worrying about your home, CCTV surveillance cameras could be ideal for you. You will be able to view the CCTV footage from your mobile device wherever you are. If you do notice any unusual activity, you can contact a neighbour or the emergency services.

  • Share Photos On Your Return

There are over 3 billion active users of social media across the world. While it is tempting to show your friends on social media your stunning sunsets, gorgeous views, blue skies and fabulous holiday memories, try and wait until you get home. By announcing your holiday plans on social media, you are telling everyone that your home is empty. If this information falls into the wrong hands, you could end up with your home breaking broken into and your belongings stolen.
